When Hazel and Andrew chose to celebrate their wedding at St. Peter's Church in Harton, South Shields, they set the stage (literally) for a day filled with warmth, tradition, fun and joy.

A Traditional Ceremony with Personal Touches
St. Peter's Church offers a timeless backdrop for any wedding, and Hazel and Andrew’s ceremony was no exception. The church’s classic architecture and stained glass windows added a sense of history and solemnity to the occasion. The couple’s vows were heartfelt and sincere, creating a genuine connection that was easy to capture through candid photography.
The traditional church service had an extra injection of fun with some lively entertainment during the signing of the register. The local musical theatre group that Hazel belongs to had the whole congregation tapping their feet and clapping. The Vicar may also have been spotted enjoying the entertainment once the formal signing was completed.

Scenic Photoshoot in North Marine Park
After the ceremony, Hazel and Andrew took some time for photos in North Marine Park. This location is ideal for capturing Bride and Groom portraits when time permits in-between the ceremony and reception. The park’s bandstand provides a great backdrop with the trees in full colour, providing a stunning natural frame for the couple’s portraits.
This break between the church and reception gave Hazel and Andrew a moment to relax and enjoy each other’s company away from the crowd. It also allowed me to work creatively, blending candid moments with more posed portraits to tell their story fully.

A Reception Full of Life at the Roker Hotel
The party vibe truly came alive at the Roker Hotel in Sunderland. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and excellent service, the hotel was the perfect place for Hazel and Andrew to celebrate with their guests. The reception space was decorated to match the autumn theme, with rustic touches and warm lighting that made everyone feel at home.
The energy in the room was contagious. Guests danced, laughed, and shared stories late into the evening. As a creative photographer, I focused on capturing these candid moments—the spontaneous laughter, the joyful tears, and the lively dance floor. These images tell the story of a wedding that was not only beautiful but also full of genuine happiness.
The Roker Hotel’s staff ensured the day ran smoothly, allowing Hazel and Andrew to enjoy every moment without worry. The combination of a stunning venue and a lively crowd made this reception one to remember.

Why Choosing the Right Photographer Matters
For couples planning their own autumn wedding, selecting a north east wedding photographer who understands both creative and documentary styles can make all the difference. Hazel and Andrew’s day was captured with a balance of artistic portraits and candid storytelling, preserving the atmosphere and emotions naturally.
A photographer who knows the local venues can also suggest the best spots for photos and help the day flow smoothly. This local knowledge ensures you get the most from your wedding day without added stress.
Final Thoughts on Hazel and Andrew’s Wedding
